Rapid Response

Although Sister-Corps is not classified as “first responders,” we excel in rapid response—providing timely support in the early days after major events. During the height of COVID-19, we partnered with other organizations to deliver essential health and hygiene items to the Navajo Nation in the Four Corners region, sending thousands of dollars’ worth of requested supplies directly to Navajo distribution centers.

We also respond to urgent community needs beyond severe weather. When supply chains, health concerns, or local resources are strained, we help fill gaps by coordinating donations, sourcing requested items, and delivering them where they can be distributed quickly and safely.

When Hurricane Laura impacted Louisiana, Sister-Corps quickly sent supplies to support first responders and residents. After severe flooding in Eastern Kentucky, a small “lightning” team deployed to Vicco to distribute water, sack lunches, and hygiene items. The team also helped remove damaged materials from homes so families could begin the recovery process. Additional rapid response efforts have supported the Houma Nation in Louisiana, providing needed assistance during challenging times.

“Just when we thought no one else was coming for help… just when we had given up… here came this group of women who really know how to work, and they also listened to us talk about what happened.”
